Meet Pietro

Pietro began his career at mydentist as an 18-year-old student dental nurse, before we were even known as mydentist. Reflecting on those early days, Pietro comments: “I started as a shy 18-year-old with no idea what I wanted to do career-wise.”

Over time, he found his footing in dentistry, and after qualifying, he was recognised as Dental Nurse of the Year in 2011. This award marked a turning point, reinforcing his decision to build a career in the field.

Progression and growth at mydentist

With his qualification and early achievements behind him, Pietro transitioned into the role of treatment coordinator (TCO). This position allowed him to develop a deeper understanding of patient care while honing his communication and organisational skills.

When an opportunity arose to join the mydentist Support Centre, Pietro seized it.

“Moving to the Support Centre was a big step,” Pietro recalls. “It gave me the chance to grow professionally while helping others see what’s possible with the right support.”

Pietro is currently part of the Clinical Resourcing team, specialising in recruiting Orthodontic and Qualified Dental Nurse roles. When asked about how his previous roles at mydentist help him excel in his current position, he comments: "Having been a Dental Nurse and Treatment Co-ordinator, I am uniquely placed to understand life in mydentist and find candidates the right role for them. I am passionate about my role, taking great pride in supporting practices to get the right candidate for their roles and helping Dental Nurses on their journey.”

As Pietro’s career flourished, so too did his personal life. Now preparing to become a father, he attributes much of his confidence to his experiences at mydentist. “The support I’ve received here has helped me feel ready for this next step in my life,” he says.

Pietro also highlights the inclusive culture at mydentist as a key factor in his growth. “We embrace our differences and celebrate our similarities,” he says. “I work with colleagues from all over the world, and it’s this diversity that makes mydentist such a great place to thrive.”

In 2024, Pietro’s contributions were celebrated when he was named Support Centre Colleague of the Year at the mydentist Excellence Awards. Describing the moment, Pietro says, “It’s the crowning achievement of my career with mydentist.”

This recognition is a testament to Pietro’s hard work and the opportunities mydentist provides for growth. “Life at mydentist is never slow,” he adds. “There’s always something new to learn, and we’ve overcome challenges together to become the market leader in dentistry.”

Pietro’s journey is more than just a success story; it’s an example of what can be achieved with determination and the right environment. “The ethos at mydentist has always remained the same,” Pietro says. “We grow together, we respect each other, and we achieve as one.”
