Qualifying in Newcastle in 2018, Ben graduated with merit, he was awarded the BSPD Nick Jackson prize for the best clinical performance in paediatric dentistry. Ben completed the 2-year General Professional Trainee programme within a dental practice and Newcastle Dental Hospital. This programme gained him experience in a variety of fields including Oral Surgery, Restorative Dentistry, Oral Medicine and Child Dental Health. He then successfully passed his MFDS exams with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. Ben has a keen interest in medical education, successfully completing a certificate in Facilitating Learning in Healthcare Practice with distinction and is also working towards his Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education and a Postgraduate Diploma in Oral Surgery. As an appointed Educational Supervisor, Ben supports foundation dentists develop their skills after graduating university. His goal within the surgery is to make patients feel calm and relaxed and thrives to help anxious patients overcome their fear of the dental setting. Outside of work, Ben enjoys spending time with his family and friends and most importantly his dog. If he’s not out walking his dog, he can often be found watching the rugby as an avid fan.
