Nicola is a dual qualified dental hygienist and dental therapist. She qualified from Leeds University in 2003 and has since gained experience in a variety of dental practice settings from NHS access centre to private specialist periodontal practices. She has worked in both the UK and New Zealand. She started out in dentistry as a dental nurse and spent over two years assisting a periodontal specialist treating patients with advanced gum disease, this was a fantastic steppingstone for her into dental hygiene. She is motivated to enable people to take control of their oral health, providing tips and encouragement to equip patients with the tools and confidence to become less reliant on dental services. She finds it particularly moving when nervous patients begin to gain confidence and control, watching their transformation makes it all so worthwhile for her. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with family, swimming, cycling and baking.
