Dr.Amy Packer

After graduating from London, Amy returned to her North East roots to undertake General Professional Training at Front Street Dental Practice and Newcastle Dental Hospital. During these 2 years she also gained her Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. She was thrilled when she was asked to stay on at the practice! In the years since, she has continued her love of volunteering, including as a Dentist for both the Olympic Games in London, 2012, and the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, 2014. She has also been a long-standing council member of the North of England Odontological Society, including proudly being the President for 2017/18. She additionally provides regular cover for the Emergency Dental Services. Amy has seen her own family grow, with the addition of her gorgeous son, whilst enjoying seeing the families she cares for also expand.

Dr.Angus Mather

Angus graduated from Newcastle in 2016 and went on to work in an NHS practice in Meadowfield until 2021. Since joining Front Street, he’s quickly become a popular addition and often receives excellent feedback from patients and colleagues alike.
Angus enjoys working with anxious patients and takes pride in their journey from being extremely nervous, to being more comfortable in the dental chair under his guidance. He enjoys doing more routine dentistry to high standard but is also keen to grow his skills in cosmetic and private dentistry. He loves taking the time to chat with patients on a human level, insisting that his interest is in the person, not just their teeth and describes Front Street as a happy, busy practice to work in.
Outside of work Angus lives in Durham and enjoys playing guitar. He has a theatre background, is extremely musical and was even part of the Gilbert and Sullivan Society at University.

Dr.Aran Maxwell-Cox

Aran qualified as a dentist in 2014 from the University of Dundee, Scotland and Københavns Universitet, Denmark. Aran has a passion for aesthetics and cosmetic procedures and provides minimally invasive dentistry here at Front Street. Aran completed PGCert in Facilitating Learning in Healthcare Practice at the University of Central Lancashire in 2019. He won Highly Commended Young Dentist of the Year at the the UK Dentistry Awards 2021.
Aran has a passion for anatomy driven facial aesthetics in order to provide not only safe treatment but exceptional results for patients. He believes patient care is paramount and always strives to provide the best possible experience for those being treated. In his spare time he enjoys travelling, cooking and spending time with his partner and dog.

Dr.Claire Horan (Cairns)

Claire graduated from Newcastle University with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 2011, achieving a merit in academic dentistry.
She has worked at {my}dentist Front Street Dental Practice in Consett since 2012 and enjoys providing both NHS and private treatment to patients. In particular, she enjoys working with nervous or anxious patients, putting them at ease within the surgery environment. She is a valued member of our team and also works hard to promote good oral health in both adults and children. Claire is also passionate about providing aesthetic composite bonding to improve patients’ smiles and ultimately confidence.
Outside of work Claire enjoys walking, swimming and DIY.

Dr.David Furness

David has been working at {my}dentist Consett since 2016. Originally from Edinburgh, he moved to Newcastle to study dentistry and graduated in 2015. During his degree he received the Proctor prize and the Coltene prize. These prizes were for best clinical skills and best work with white fillings respectively. David provides both NHS and private dental treatment. He has a keen interest in white fillings and teeth whitening to improve patient's smiles.
In his spare time he enjoys long distance running and has completed half marathons in Newcastle and Edinburgh. He also enjoy films. Prior to attending dental school, he achieved a First Class Masters Degree in Chemistry.

Dr.David Taylor

David, or Dave as we call him within the practice, is a local lad who was born and raised in Consett and has now been working for {my}dentist Front Street since the beginning of 2020.
Dave qualified as a Dentist at Newcastle University in 2016, where he also gained a 1st class degree in Biomedical Science. Since qualifying he’s focused mainly on cosmetic dentistry, completing several courses in composite bonding and veneers, crown and bridge work and short-term orthodontics.
He’s a big advocate of ‘Align, Bleach and Bond’ dentistry and provides both Invisalign clear aligners, Clearcorrect aligners and Quick Straight Teeth, which is a form of fixed braces.
He’s always looking to improve his skills and hopes to complete a diploma or MSc in Restorative or Aesthetic Dentistry in the near future.

Dr.James Goodman
(Dental Implant Surgeon)

James graduated from Newcastle University in 2000 and has worked across a number of practices providing both NHS and Private dentistry. James strives to improve the oral health of his patients and build confidence with those who are dental phobic, giving them all the confidence to smile. In 2011 he completed the highly regarded ‘One to One’ Implant course at the University of Sheffield and has been providing implant dentistry to a very high standard since.
James has a passion for cosmetic dentistry and is an established provider of Invisalign, a virtually invisible, removable solution for those wanting to straighten their teeth. He now focuses his time on providing private cosmetic dentistry and offers complimentary consultations for those wanting smile makeovers, implants and orthodontic treatments.
James lives in Newcastle with his wife, daughter and dog and in his spare time, enjoys being active, making time for fell walking and mountain biking.

Dr.Kate Cranson

Kate graduated from Newcastle University as a dentist in 2017. She worked previously as a dental nurse and has worked within dentistry since 2009. She joined {my}dentist Front Street in 2019 and works with us 4 days a week.
She provides facial aesthetic treatments, and is fully qualified to administer both anti-wrinkle and dermal fillers, she does hope to further her learning by studying for a level 7 diploma in this area in the future. She also enjoys providing white fillings and tooth whitening to patients to increase their confidence.
Kate is an Educational Supervisor with NHS England where she mentors and educates new graduates and has obtained a postgraduate certificate in facilitating learning in healthcare.In her spare time she enjoys swimming, renovating her house and spending time with family and friends.

Dr.Lauren Cross

Lauren graduated from Dundee in 2019 with commendation and went on to work near Edinburgh before she joined the Front Street Team in 2020. In the 2 years since she joined us, her skills and confidence have gone from strength to strength and she’s an integral and valued member of the team.
Lauren enjoys all aspects of dentistry but is very much a people person and particularly enjoys building a relationship with her patients. Her professionalism and friendly manner mean that patients often comment on how much they appreciate her warmth and reassurance in surgery.
Outside of the practice Lauren loves football and passionately follows Newcastle United, regularly watching games with her family and friends.

Dr.Sophie Elizabeth Holland

Sophie joined our team in 2020 having graduated the previous year from Newcastle University. She is valued by patients for her comforting manner and generally being a very lovely dentist, often receiving praise and positive feedback from those that were initially nervous about coming in to the practice, but are now much more at ease.
Sophie is invested in providing treatment to improve patient’s confidence in their smiles, namely ClearCorrect teeth straightening, whitening and composite bonding. She also enjoys seeing patients oral health improve from one check up to the next after they have taken on her advice and encouragement. Outside of Dentistry Sophie enjoys spending time with loved ones and pets, cooking and seeing live bands.

Dr.Stephen Ward

Stephen has been with us at the Front Street practice since 2012 and is a valued member of our team. He graduated from Newcastle University with Merit in both clinical and academic dentistry before joining us at Front Street. He is a certified Invisalign practitioner, as well as providing a full range of NHS and private dental treatments. Stephen has a special interest in providing aesthetic treatments to boost patients’ confidence and helping them to love their smiles.
In his spare time he enjoys sports, reading, travel and music. He also impressively has a First Class Biology BSc (Hons) Degree.

Miss.Tamsyn McKenna
(Therapist)

Tamsyn qualified from Teesside University in 2021 with First Class Honours in Dental Hygiene and Dental Therapy. At the end of her studies, Tamsyn was awarded Student Dental Hygienist and Dental Therapist of the year through the Future of Dentistry Awards.
Tamsyn completed her Foundation Dental Therapist Training Programme at Consett {my}dentist, where she also completed placements in the Community Dental Services and the Department of Child Dental Health at Newcastle Dental Hospital.
Tamsyn finds treating children and anxious patients particularly rewarding, ensuring that they have a positive experience in the Dental Surgery.
Outside of work Tamsyn enjoys travelling and turning her hand to different forms of art including watercolours, pyrography, acrylic painting and print making.

Mrs.Zoe Broadbent
(Hygienist)

Zoe is our longstanding hygiene professional and has always been enthusiastic about promoting good oral health in the time she's been at Front Street. Within the practice, treating periodontal disease and supporting patients throughout their oral health and hygiene journey is her passion. She's a great person to provide advice and information on maintaining optimum dental hygiene and is always keen to update her clinical skills and knowledge to ensure patients are in the best possible hands. Outside of work, Zoe likes spending time outdoors and listening to 80s music... you'll more often than not hear some on in the background coming from her surgery radio!
