A year in review with mydentist Huntingdon

In December 2023, mydentist St Benedicts Court in Huntingdon opened its doors after a £1.4 million investment. The move to this purpose-built unit marked a new chapter for our team and patients, as the practice opened with seven state-of-the-art surgeries, fully equipped to offer an expanded range of treatments and services. We visited the practice team at mydentist St Benedicts Court, Huntingdon, a year on, to talk about the effect the investment has had not only on them, but also how it has transformed our patients’ experience.

Settling into St Benedicts Court

Marking a significant milestone for dental care in Huntingdon, mydentist St Benedicts Court is one of the many modern dental practices opened by mydentist in the last few years. The purpose of new, purpose-built sites like mydentist St Benedicts Court, is to offer communities better access to the dental care they need to feel confident in their smiles – with practices that offer more choice when it comes to treatments, in addition to improved accessibility for our patients.

We first sat down with Alison Clark, Practice Manager, to see how the move to the new facility has positively impacted her team. Alison commented: “This past year has been amazing. The way we’ve all settled into the practice has been incredible. We felt at home from day one, even if there were boxes everywhere!”

Alison added: “I think the investment in the practice has enabled us to give even better care to our patients. We can see more patients now, we can offer more treatments and services – whereas before we may struggle with appointment availability, now we have more dentists to meet that need.”

We also spoke to Charlotte Clark, Treatment Coordinator, who reflected on the team’s growth. She commented: “We had a solid foundation of three core dentists, nurses and staff from the old practice. But we’ve now expanded and the new people that have joined us have been wonderful.”

A more connected and modern experience

The new practice’s central location has been a highlight for both the team and patients. Alison commented: “We’ve had incredible feedback from patients. I think many of them love the fact that we’re in a more central location.”

Self-employed Associate Dentist, Dr Mircea ‘Dan’ Popa, also noticed the benefits of the new location. He commented: “At the old practice, we unfortunately only had three surgeries and couldn’t help as many patients as we wanted. In terms of location, the new practice is in a very accessible place. Our patients are very satisfied, they love the experience they have here, and they feel accommodated because the facilities are more modern and accessible.”

Expanding opportunities for patients and staff

The state-of-the-art equipment at the new practice has significantly improved the services on offer. Stacey Topper, Head Nurse, added: “I think when the patients, and the staff, walk in, they’re coming into a nice environment. I feel like it inspires a bit more confidence, especially if a patient is having treatment here. It’s a more comfortable environment for them.”

Charlotte also commented on how the new facilities have changed the patient experience: “I feel the new facilities allow us to give our patients more options. Instead of referring them elsewhere for treatments like implants or for x-rays and scans, we can do everything in-house now – it’s perfect.”

Dan also elaborated on the impact of the new technology: “The new practice is amazing. There was a big investment, so everything is brand new. We can offer patients different treatments, because we have all the technology necessary. Now we can take digital impressions with a scanner, or we can take both simple and complex CBCT scans.”

From a team perspective, Stacey highlighted: “The team here definitely have more learning opportunities now, because we have the equipment to do everything on site without referring out to other practices. The equipment we do have at the new practice is brand new, which is again a massive benefit for the team.”

Building a bright future for mydentist St Benedicts Court, Huntingdon

For Alison, the move to St Benedicts Court has opened up new possibilities for the practice. She commented: "As a practice we’ve got so many goals, I think in the old site we were restricted in terms of room to grow. Now, I just see the possibilities, not only for the clinicians to offer the amazing services they’ve trained to deliver, but also for the practice team as a whole.”

Reflecting on the team’s achievements, she concluded: “Since moving to the new practice, we all have such a sense of pride in this building and in our team. I don’t think I’ll ever forget the look on the faces of the team when they saw the new facilities.”

Dr Janina Rudareanu echoed these sentiments: “I feel we’re lucky to have such a good team here. The practice team members support each other, and they’d do anything to help you. We’re all very committed to our patients.”
