A lasting legacy of dental access

Every year, {my}dentist funds two of our team to travel to Tanzania and train rural clinical officers in vital dentistry skills in order to serve their community. The most recent clinician to travel with the charity was Keith McClean of {my}dentist Sunderland Road, who travelled to the Mara region.

Research we did last summer suggested that children consume 5X as much sugar during the summer holidays than they do during term time with a fifth of parents admitting their child’s oral health also declines in the holidays. Kids can be a tough crowd, we know. With all the excitement of the summer holidays even the routine tasks can become a chore or long forgotten. We want to help you make sure your kid’s teeth are gleaming all year round with these fun games to make cleaning their teeth more fun than glum.

Mouth Cancer Awareness Month

This month is Mouth Cancer Awareness Month and at mydentist we’re raising awareness of the role your dentist plays in early diagnosis of the disease. Head and neck cancer rates are rising and they are now the eighth most common cancer in the UK. As with any cancer, early diagnosis is vital which is why we recommend visiting your dentist regularly.

Dr Amit Patel’s life-changing trip to Tanzania

Our clinical charity is Bridge2Aid, which provides dental treatment and training in remote rural areas of Tanzania. The charity was established in 2004 and so far has provided safe dental treatment to more than five million patients.
